My name is Andy Zapata, I was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico and From family gatherings when I was younger filled with music and dance, my passion for the art form blossomed from being in that environment..
My Foundation/Choreography journey began at LCHS Performing Dance, where I later became a Team Captain and Assistant Choreographer from 2013 to 2015. After High School I was seeking new challenges, so I joined Motion Headquarters in El Paso, Texas where my hard work and dedication led me to become a Director, Choreographer, and Team Captain in 2015 and 2016. My passion for dance continued to thrive as I moved to Arizona and became one of the Choreographers and Assistant Directors for Jig Fam in 2019, a role I’m proud to hold today.
I have also participated and competed in various dance competitions, claiming some achievements along the way. I proudly secured 2nd Place Champion at World of Dance Houston 2015, 3rd Place Champion at World of Dance Las Vegas 2016, and 3rd Place Champion at World of Dance Dallas 2017. I also showcased my talent at Hip Hop International Mexico 2017 and competed in Jaquel Knight’s March Madness Choreographer Contest in 2021. Among my achievements, I was honored to be crowned 1st place Dance Champion at the recent Monsters of Hip Hop A-list Competition in 2022, as well as achieving 1st Place Champion at America’s Cup El Paso in 2016 and winning back-to-back 1st Place Champion titles at Sun City Dance Classic in 2017 and 2018. I have participated in workshops and classes like the Snached and Slayed Summer Intensive in Houston, Texas in 2016 and serving as a guest instructor at Garage 713 in Houston Texas in June 2021. I have also showcased my work at the Motion Headquarters La Fiesta Showcase in 2016, 2017, and 2018 and prestigious events such as the Rihanna Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in 2023.
With an unwavering passion and a commitment to my craft, I look forward to this new chapter in my journey, and always lead with the intention to help others achieve their goals through dance!
